The Global Africa Translation Fellowship, offered by The Africa Institute, provides grant funding of up to $5,000 to support translations of significant African and African Diaspora texts into English or Arabic (other languages may also be considered). This non-residential fellowship is open to applicants from across the Global South and aims to make African literature, poetry, prose, and critical theory more accessible worldwide.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Open to scholars and translators from the Global South.
- Translations must be from African and African Diaspora works into English or Arabic (other languages may be considered).
- Projects may include previously untranslated works, re-translations of classics, poetry, prose, or critical theory collections.
- Applications from independent scholars, academics, and professional translators are encouraged.
Benefits:
