The Climate Change Resilient Equitable Healthy Cities in Africa (CLARITY-Africa) Project is inviting applications for fully funded PhD scholarships at the University of Ghana (UG) and the Africa Institute for Mathematical Sciences, Research & Innovation Centre (AIMS RIC). The project, coordinated by Imperial College London in collaboration with leading African institutions, focuses on climate change, environmental risk, and urban resilience in Accra and Tamale (Ghana) and Kigali and Musanze (Rwanda). Successful applicants will receive tuition, research funding, stipends, travel support, and other related expenses for the duration of their PhD programme (4 years at UG, 3 years at AIMS RIC).
Eligibility Criteria:
- Open to applicants from all African countries (AIMS RIC accepts all African applicants; UG accepts only Ghanaian nationals).
- Must have a Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., climate science, geography, economics, environmental science, public health, or mathematical/physical sciences).
- Research must focus on heat, flooding, or drought in one of the identified African cities.
- Must demonstrate research potential, familiarity with analytical/statistical methods, and strong communication skills.
- University of Ghana PhD Year 1 students are also eligible to apply.
